Our Smoked Garlic

Transforming ordinary dishes into extraordinary experiences.

What is smoked garlic?

Smoked garlic is a unique ingredient made by exposing whole garlic bulbs to cold smoke for an extended period of time. This process infuses the garlic with a smoky flavour that is more subtle and mellow than raw garlic

What does smoked garlic taste like?

Smoked garlic takes on a milder, slightly sweet flavour with nutty undertones and has a very subtle smoked taste; this makes it a beautifully simple, easy-to-use ingredient.

How can smoked garlic be used?

Cold-smoked garlic is a versatile ingredient – use it as you would use fresh garlic. It can be added whole to soups and stews and simmered, chopped or minced and used in pasta sauces, mashed potatoes, or dips. It can also be used to make a smoky aioli or mayonnaise.

3 basic ways to use smoked garlic

Roast it

Roast a whole smoked garlic bulb, with the skin on in a preheated oven at 190°C for about 40-60 minutes until the cloves are soft and caramelised. Once roasted, the garlic will have a soft texture, making it easy to smear onto bread or crackers. Its mellow flavour pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or grilled meats.

Infuse it

For a flavourful infusion, leave the skin on the smoked garlic cloves, crush the cloves with the side of a knife and simmer the whole cloves in a pot of milk over low heat. Remove the garlic cloves and use the infused milk to make mashed potatoes for a creamy and captivating side dish. Alternatively, add the smoked garlic cloves directly to soups or stews during cooking to give a subtle smokiness to the dish.

Crush it

Peel and finely chop the smoked garlic cloves, then incorporate it into various dishes, just as you would use fresh garlic. Sauté in butter or oil, then add it to pasta sauces to give them a delicate smokey flavour. Mix the crushed garlic into softened butter to create a flavorful spread for bread or even corn, or blend it into aioli.
